There is part of Universal Credit that can be used to help pay for property rental. Once you have moved into a property you will complete a change of circumstances form and the Local Housing Allowance amount will be calculated and automatically added to your Universal Credit payment.

To undertake an affordability assessment to find out how much you may be able to afford to rent, below is a list of things that are needed.
- Proposed Property Rent amount and Location (tenancy agreement where possible)
- 3 Months Bank Statements
- 3 Months Payslips – if temp or 0 hour attached contract
- Turn2Us Calculator
- Income and Expenditure form
The income and expenditure form is attached, they would need to complete this with the information they have. Then it gets collected together and sent to your area lead. Please put your name as the subject line in the email.

Turn2us is a UK charity that helps Ukrainian refugees access vital benefits support
National charity Turn2us has expanded its digital tools so Ukrainian refugees arriving in the UK can find out what benefits they are entitled to.
Thousands of Ukrainian refugees will now be able to access vital support thanks to a number of key changes to the charity’s Benefits Calculator.
Turn2us helps more than two million people every year find out what benefits they are eligible for. However the charity identified various points at which it might be hard for Ukrainians who had recently arrived in the UK to use their Benefits Calculator to work out what income they would be entitled to.
As a result, Turn2us improved the usability of their calculator to make sure it was easy to follow for Ukrainian refugees. Changes included adding additional immigration and housing status questions, extra help text prompts and information for refugees who may need to seek further support from their local council.
