On Saturday, June 29, an excited group of Ukrainians embarked on a journey to Salisbury and the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. The trip, meticulously organised by the members of the Hilltops Ukrainian support community, showcased their deep appreciation for the natural beauty and historical treasures of the United Kingdom.
The adventure began in Salisbury, where the group marvelled at the stunning Salisbury Cathedral, renowned for its soaring spire and the historic Magna Carta housed within its walls. The awe-inspiring architecture and the rich history left a lasting impression on the visitors, highlighting their keen interest in the UK heritage.
The day continued with a visit to the picturesque Jurassic Coast, where the group explored the Man o’War beach. Here, both adults and children alike enjoyed a refreshing swim and some much-needed relaxation amidst the breath-taking coastal scenery. It was such a joy to watch the children splashing about. Due to the community’s ability to create a family-friendly and engaging experience the children are able, for a moment, to leave the memories of the war behind.
This self-organised trip by the Hilltops Ukrainian community not only exemplifies the ability of its Ukrainian members to arrange meaningful and enriching activities. It also underscores their enthusiasm for exploring and understanding British culture and history. The connection fostered during the trips will surely last a lifetime.
